A little rain added a lot of magic to Kristina and Sam’s celebration of love one year ago today at their coastal wedding in southern California. Their story solidifies you can’t plan for the unexpected – in life or in love. Which the weather proved to be on their special day, utterly unexpected.
So much so that after capturing their first look outside of the picturesque Portofino Hotel & Marina it caused the couple to pivot from an outdoor event to an indoor affair. Excelling in the face of adversity is a golden thread rooted deeply in the foundation of Kristina and Sam’s relationship that seems to always find a way to shine.
Beginning as friends, Kristina and Sam stayed close throughout academic milestones from graduating high school and then college, even with 3,000 miles between them. At first, the divergence of different career paths cut the budding romance too short too soon; however, a mere eighteen months later it could only be described as kismet that the pair found their way back to one-another. As the couple fondly recalls, the four years of long distance challenged them in ways that taught them how to appreciate and love each other even more.
The two exchanged vows in the early evening of their timeless and classic beachside destination wedding. They committed to love, honor and respect each other for all their days and sealed their promises with a perfect kiss. As they danced the night away surrounded by their loved ones it became apparent that no obstacle could shake the foundation of these serendipitous soul-mates.
Happy first wedding anniversary, Kristina + Sam. Thank you for letting me be such a special part of your journey in love. I can vividly recall the joy surrounding you both on your wedding day last year, it was unmistakable. What an honor it was for me to be able to witness and capture it.
