To capture real emotion in photography you need to witness raw emotion in-person from the other side of the camera. I’m talking about capturing love so pure whoever is admiring the pictures for years to come can’t help but feel emotion coursing through them. If you’re lucky, they’ll feel a myriad of emotions from one photograph alone.
That’s the power and beauty behind intimate motherhood photography. Some of my favorite sessions are between mothers and their children. There’s an illustrious magic behind this type of family bond that can’t quite be explained. As a mother myself, I’ve found more and more inspiration through different mothers around me to create this romantic maternity photoshoot as a celebration of the beauty of all women. Every moment from our changing bodies, our power, sexuality and fragility all encompassed through motherhood is a wondrous cycle of life. I curated this styled Denver maternity photoshoot captured at Studio One in Denver, CO and am still awestruck by the real mother and child bond that blossomed before the camera.
This mommy and baby session was a hybrid of a maternity boudoir shoot. My maternal muse was Lynn, a mother of two, who graciously brought in her newest bundle of joy for this session. The connection between them was a beautiful relationship to witness. They two merely interacted as if I weren’t even in the room which helped me preserve the memories so naturally as the interactions between them unfolded.
This photoshoot is a raw, classy, and a tasteful celebration of motherhood and all that comes with it. I sourced the wardrobe from Gossamer to be inclusive of ultra-feminine and romantic pieces to highlight the female body in all its strength and delicacy. I worked with the most amazing local vendors to procure the beauty talents of both make-up artist, Sameera, and hair artist, Laura Gavina to bring the overall vision to life. I’m forever inspired by photography artists like Elizabeth Messina and KT Merry and love to draw inspiration from my industry peers especially within styled shoots such as these. A huge thank you to all, especially you Lynn for sharing such a special and intimate part of your family with us.
