On March 10th, I gave birth to a beautiful and perfectly healthy baby girl. This was my second pregnancy so I knew quite well how I’d be handling my wedding photography business this year. Particularly, during the early months of morning sickness (this phase is always quite cruel for me) and during the latter end where waddling, back pain, and the myriad of unpleasant pregnancy symptoms TAKE. OVER. EVERYTHING.
In preparation for all this, I reluctantly toned down my focus on weddings and took in more portrait sessions with newborns, families, and maternity sessions. Spending time with these clients turned out to be so therapeutic for me. I was able to capture perspectives of mothers and fathers through my lens, sharing stories of complete despondency but also complete delight. Here are two of my most recent and favorite family photoshoots.
I met sweet baby Charlotte and her equally as sweet mother, Lauren, in Nordstrom’s bathroom right in the middle of a breast feeding session. There’s an unspoken affinity between newborn mothers so we connected immediately. When Lauren reached out for a portrait session with baby Charlotte I was over the moon. Just look at her sweet eyes 🙂

Sweet little hands.
Because our furry babies are important too.
I’ve been photographing this Denver family for a couple years now and documenting their growing beautiful family has been such a humbling experience.
The excitement of being big sis!
And then you have moments like these where you realize you’re not the only child anymore. 🙁

The best gift big sis could ever receive from mom and dad.
